Ultima Thule (X:34.8, Y:28.8)
Where No Loporrit Has Gone Before
For the first time since the fall of its civilization, the warmongering Stigma-4 is awake, its unbeating heart set on conquering a distant star─yours. Omicron N-7000 believes that the most effective means of deterrence is to convince its subconscious circuits of how poorly it would fare against Hydaelyn's champion, and has opened a path to allow you to implant a pseudo-memory of just such a contest. Thus does it fall to you to answer the question─of what do matrices dream?
After the boss's initial attack, the edge of the arena will be covered in an area-of-effect (AoE) that applies a debuff called "Bleeding." This debuff causes Damage over Time until the player steps off the affected area. There are several other mechanics to be aware of during the fight. The boss will perform a cleave attack called "Side Cannons," where it swings its hitbox from the left or right side, indicated by outward-pointing arrows. To avoid this attack, players should move to the opposite side. The boss also has attacks called "Rear Interceptors" and "Forward Interceptors," where it bombards the entire arena in the indicated direction, similar to Side Cannons. Another attack called "Chemical Missile" marks all players except the tank with point-blank AoEs, requiring them to spread out to avoid overlapping damage. Once these AoEs resolve, they will leave behind lava puddles that will debuff players with "Burning" until they step out of them. The boss has an attack called "Electric Slide," where a random player is marked for a radial knockback, and the boss then leaps towards that player, knocking everyone back. Players should move in to avoid being knocked into the arena walls or use a knockback resistance skill. During the fight, players will also experience a mechanic called "Guided Missile," where they will be tethered to missiles that slowly move towards them until impact, causing minor damage and dropping more lava puddles. Finally, there is a heavy-hitting tankbuster called "Mustard Bomb" that players should mitigate to minimize damage.
In this encounter, the boss has several attacks with different names and mechanics. The first is called "Wheel" and it is a tankbuster attack. The second attack is "Atomic Flame" which hits the entire room. The boss also has an ability called "Auto-mobile Assault Cannon" where it will return to the center of the arena and dash towards a specific direction, repeating this movement four times. Players need to avoid standing in the boss's path during this attack. Another attack, called "Wave Cannon", occurs when the boss stops after the "Auto-mobile Assault Cannon". It will cleave the front half of the room, so players must move to a safe zone behind the boss to avoid getting hit. Lastly, there is the "Auto-mobile Sniper Cannon" attack where the boss dashes to the north wall and creates a line AoE across the center of the arena. Orbs will appear in this AoE, indicating that when the boss reaches that spot, it will shoot a laser attack at players. To avoid hitting other players with the beam, players should stand next to the corresponding number of orbs.
After approximately five seconds, the arena's edge will be covered in an area of effect that applies a debuff called "Bleeding." This debuff causes Damage over Time until the player steps off the affected area. During the "AI Takeover" phase, one of three adds will spawn: Omega Frame, Hybrid Dragon, or Proto-Rocket Punch. The Omega Frame add uses "Proto-wave Cannon," a cleave attack, and "Self-Destruct," which deals moderate partywide damage if not defeated in time. The Hybrid Dragon add uses "Firebreath," a wide conal area of effect, and "Self-Destruct" like the Omega Frame. It may be worthwhile to ignore the adds and focus only on the boss, healing through the damage from "Self-Destruct," but this strategy should be communicated to the party beforehand. The Proto-Rocket Punch add spawns six adds on the arena's edge, which then cast "Rush" and fly across the arena. Players must find the gap between the adds to stay in a safe spot. The boss also periodically transforms into one of two shapes: a double helix spiral or a donut. In the double helix spiral form, the boss uses a point-blank area of effect, so players should move away to avoid it. In the donut form, the boss fires a Donut area of effect, and players should move into the boss's hitbox to avoid it. After the "Mindhack" cast finishes, all players receive a debuff called "Face," which causes them to run in the direction indicated when the debuff expires. Players will run during the duration of the "Forced March" debuff, so they need to watch the boss's shape and prepare to face accordingly. The boss also uses an ability called "Atomic Ray," which is a roomwide area of effect that deals moderate damage and inflicts the "Bleeding" debuff. Additionally, the boss can activate "Multi-AI Takeover," spawning two of the three different adds from the "AI Takeover" phase.
